There is no doubt that a website is a great way to provide value added service to your customers and clients. Another goal of a website is to build credibility and have a place where people can learn more about your business and get a feel for who you are.
So, all of that is great news. Now where do you start?
- Start gathering up information.
Start looking at website’s you enjoy spending time on. Also look at competitor sites that are in the same industry as you. Make notes on what they’ve done right and what doesn’t work so well. Collect photos from photo shoots, create a brand mood board on Pintrest, think about the type of copy and language you want to use that best suit your business.
- The legal stuff.
We normally provide our clients with the standard policies and laws used in South Africa. However, every business is different. If you have the means, start to put your legal documents together and have them reviewed by your lawyer.
- Pages for your site
This will also vary from company to company but normally you will need between 4-6 tabs.
Remember to keep your navigation clean and to the point. Simple is better especially for mobile use. Remember to be consistent with your brand visuals and messaging.
Most entrepreneurs, business owners and marketing managers then need to decide whether to hire or to do it themselves. The sooner you gain a presence on the web, the better.
